The fine art photography project titled DER STRUWWELPETER based on Dr. Heinrich Hoffmann’s book for children - you may be familiar with this German classic. It is a visual story put together as a small zine. Francesca Schliephake and Ekka Schoch have artistically re-interpreted the book with a contemporary twist, focusing on five tales for infants which bring a strange psychological dimension with them.

The tales come with rather dark endings, chastising children for their misbehavior, known for German literature at that time. In his book Dr. Hoffmann also touches aspects of clinical psychology. "Der Suppenkaspar" for instance, indicates an anorexic eating disorder by resisting to eat his soup and "Der Zappel-Philipp"  shows strong signs of ADHD. On that ground base we built our story, visually showing each character’s condition.
